Morphology of rice: 

1. Roots: Rice has a fibrous root system that helps with nutrient uptake and stability in wet conditions. 
2. Stem:  The stem, or culm, is typically hollow and jointed, providing support and flexibility it can very in height depending  on the variety. 
3. Leaves: Rice leaves are long, narrow , and have a pointed tip, with a prominent midrib. They are arranged alternately along the stem. 
4. Flowers: Rice flowers are small and borne in panicle . each panicle can contain numerous spikelets, which hold the individual grains. 
5. Grains: Rice grains are typically elongated and can vary in color, size,and texture depending on the variety, they consists of the hull, bran , and endosperm.

  1. The smoothed parboiled rice is called flaked rice. Flaked rice is also used for preparing Various kinds of food items. 
  2. Sake Obtained after fermentation of rice is an essential alcoholic beverage in Japan. 
  3. Bran is an importance by-product of the rice milling industry. It is used as a cattle feed in villages. 
  4. Bran oil is used as edible oil and for the preparation of Vanaspati. 
  5. Paddy husk is used as fuel. 
  6. Paddy husk is also utilized in brick making. 
  7. Bran is also utilized in the textile industry, leather industry. 
  8. Bran wax is a by-product of bran oil extraction which is used in the chocolate industry and in the manufacturer of lipsticks.
